Protest Film Nottingham, 01’36

This is the first of a series of films in which a small clockwork protest will be made in a variety of locations around the world. It is intended that eventually a kit containing a clockwork protester and placards will be passed from person to person around the globe and that the resulting films will be sent back to me for screening. If you would like to make a protest film email me and I will send you a kit. play

I love the sense of futility and playfulness stirred up by the tiny clockworks holding up the liliputian protest sign. There is an immediate recognition of the absurdity. Does anyone see it? When someone sees it, could they possibly be able to read that little sign? How could you take a writhing, clumsy, repetitious mechanical box seriously?

Amusing and revealing.

You've piqued my interest and I look forward to contributing to the project.
